Who Are You When It’s Only God?
Who are you when it’s only God?
When the noise fades, the applause stops, and no one is watching, God still sees you. That quiet place can feel uncomfortable because it reveals what is beneath the roles, achievements, and expectations we carry.
For athletes, coaches, and leaders, identity can become tied to performance. But your worth was never created by a score, a title, or someone else’s approval. It was given by God before you ever stepped into the arena.
Being alone with God is not an invitation to shame yourself. It is an invitation to become honest, grounded, and whole. In His presence, you can lay down the pressure to prove yourself and receive the strength to live from purpose instead of fear.
Ask yourself: What remains when achievement is removed? What does God say about me that success and failure cannot change? What kind of person am I becoming when no one is there to applaud?
The answer is not found in perfection. It is found in surrender. When it is only God, you are still known, still loved, and still called. That truth can give you the freedom to compete with courage, lead with humility, and live with integrity.
Take a few quiet minutes today. Put away the distractions. Be honest with God. Let Him remind you who you are.
You are more than what you do. You are a person made in God’s image, invited to walk in faith, purpose, and peace.
